How to Download a Twitter or X Video on iPhone

The iPhone-specific route from a public status link to quality selection, Safari Downloads, and Files.

Copy the video post URL

Open the public post in X, use Share, and copy its direct link. Paste it into the Twitter video downloader in Safari. The tool does not require an X login, but the post itself must be publicly resolvable.

Choose an available MP4 quality

If the post exposes several variants, compare their labels. Choose the highest available option for editing or archiving and a smaller option when mobile data or transfer limits matter. The video quality guide explains why not every post has 1080p.

Download through Safari

Tap the Download control for the chosen variant. Safari normally sends the file to the Downloads location configured in Safari settings. Open the browser download list or the Files app to find it.

Files versus Photos

An MP4 downloaded from the web usually starts in Files. That is a valid final location and often better for keeping filenames or sending the clip to an editor. If you have permission and need the clip in Photos, preview it in Files and use an available share or save action.

Audio and GIF-style clips

A normal video may include sound, while a GIF-style MP4 is intentionally silent and loops. If expected audio is missing, review the no-sound troubleshooting guide before assuming the download failed. For animations, use the iPhone GIF guide.

If Safari does not save the file

Check the browser download list, available storage, and whether the post still opens publicly. Retry once in a clean private tab if a blocker interrupted the lookup. The main video-saving guide covers the cross-device workflow and rights reminders.

Common questions

Quick answers

Where does an X video save on iPhone?

Safari normally saves it to its configured Downloads location in the Files app.

Can I choose 1080p?

Only when that public post exposes a matching variant. The downloader shows available qualities rather than creating a new resolution.
