Copy the direct X or Twitter status URL
Open the public post, tap its share control, and copy the link. Use the original media post rather than a quote, profile, or search result. Paste the URL into the homepage GIF downloader in Chrome or another current Android browser.
Search and identify the result
Tap Search. A GIF-style animation commonly appears as a silent MP4 result. The file can loop like a GIF while using a more efficient video format. The GIF-versus-video guide explains how to tell it apart from a normal video.
Download the file
Tap Download and approve the expected browser prompt if one appears. Check the notification tray, the browser’s Downloads page, or Files by Google → Downloads. Some devices sort the file under Videos because it is MP4 rather than under Images.
If Android cannot find the download
Open the browser menu and inspect Downloads before running the lookup again. Check that storage is available and that the browser is permitted to save files. Device manufacturers organize their file apps differently, so Recents can be faster than browsing folders manually.
If the lookup returns nothing
Confirm the post opens while logged out and contains native media. Copy the full direct URL again. Link preview cards, private posts, and deleted posts are not supported.
